God’s Work. Our hands.

Freeborn Lutheran facilitates and participates in many mission opportunities.

Called by Christ to be a part of our local community, Freeborn partners with our neighbors to care for one another and for our environment by encouraging each person to seek and find the relevance of God’s word in our lives.

Michelle Brekhus

My first visit to the beautiful country of Ethiopia was in 2002. At that time, the Lord allowed me to experience His amazing love for the nation and people. Since that time, I have often told people that I left my heart there.

I have been teaching at Christian international schools for the past 11 years; first in the Dominican Republic and then in Kenya. Now, 20 years later, I am making Ethiopia my home.

Starting July 2022, I will be teaching at Bingham Academy, another Christian international school in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. There are countless ways that the Lord has led me to this very place, but I believe that now is the time for Ethiopia to become my home.

Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery

Located only one minute east of Interstate 5, the church and cemetery seem miles from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Established by Scandinavian settlers over 100 years ago, the church and cemetery are not exclusive to Lutherans.  Those of any faith or beliefs are welcome here.

Lutheran World Relief

At Lutheran World Relief, we envision a future where all people, in every corner of the world can live full, dignified lives.

Lutheran World Relief tackles global poverty by helping people adapt to the challenges that threaten their livelihoods and well-being. We work with people based on need, regardless of race, religion or nationality and we do not evangelize.

Our goal is to help people build self‐sufficiency and create new community‐owned approaches to problem‐solving that will last long after our projects end.
