Michelle Brekhus (2023)
Every Tuesday from 6-7 pm during the school year, Michelle taught English to the Bible school students at the church next door to our school. This is our wonderful first year students with my co-teacher!
Bruce (my brother) and Michelle were able to share about our year in Ethiopia during a Sunday morning service at Freeborn Lutheran church in June 2023. Michelle is pictured here in the original sanctuary of the church, built almost 120 years ago.
It was really good to spend time with friends and family in the states this summer. This photo of my Dad, Mom and brother Bruce, was taken on Father’s Day!
Hailu (wearing glasses), is the former director of Haik Orphanage in the north central part of Ethiopia. He is pictured here with his wife, alongside Bruce, Brenda and Michelle. Hailu is a humble servant who gave much of his life to the care and well being of orphans. We celebrated a joyous reunion at a graduation party in Seattle in June.
Michelle was able to attend a Thrive Retreat in Colorado in July. Thrive Retreats are for women who serve all around the world. The organization raises money so that those of us who attend only have to pay $150 for three nights and four days of encouragement, rest and renewal. Michelle is pictured here on a hike in the Colorado mountains.
