Scripture: (click to read)
Acts 17:22-31 • Psalm 66:8-20 • 1 Peter 3:13-22 • John 14:15-21

At Pastor Erik’s House, Faith Lutheran Church, Freeborn Lutheran Church, and other North Snohomish County Locations
Sermon: “Liminal Space” Rev. Erik Samuelson

This service includes a “Ritual for a Holy, Communal Meal” which you can print off to follow along by clicking here. You will want to have bread and wine/juice to share with your family during a meal today to practice this ritual at home. The training/instruction video of the ritual is also below. If you would like to make the kind of bread we use for communion at Freeborn, the recipe is here.

Next Sunday: Pentecost Sunday, May 31st “Drive-In Worship” at 10 am at Faith Lutheran
The story of Pentecost begins with: “When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.” (Acts 2:1). It’s been a LONG time since we have been able to gather together in one place, but for Pentecost we are holding a “Drive-In Worship” service with Freeborn and Faith. Because of the restrictions and to care for the more vulnerable among us, we won’t be able to pass anything out, get out of our cars (or even roll down the windows) but we hope you will join us.

We’ve got a full band, some hymns to sing in your car, and some fun surprises planned. And who knows what the Holy Spirit will do! We will have communion that day, but you will need to bring your own bread and grape juice for your car to share. (FYI, it is not legal to have an open container of wine in your car even if parked, so grape juice only please!) On Wednesday May 27th from 1:00-2:30 pm you can drive through Freeborn (or Faith) for a “worship kit” that includes communion bread and a hymnal to borrow. If you can’t make it that day, reach out to Deb Seay (or reply to this email) and we will make sure things get to you. There will also be a recorded service, but it will come out Sunday afternoon so we can include parts of the drive-in service.

Next Zoom Coffee Hour—Sunday, June 7th, 11:30 am

Questions for discussion and Reflection:

When have you noticed God’s presence this week?
When have you felt God’s absence?

What has been hard for you in this “liminal” in-between time?
What blessings and joys have you found in this time?

When else have you been in “liminal space” between one reality and another?
What helped you make it through?

When things are hard, do you tend to long for what used to be?
Or do you tend to wish for things to quickly move on?

What helps you live in the moment?
What helps you find God in the here and now?
